The South Fork Natural History Museum Hosts its 33rd Annual Summer Gala

    Benefit Raises Significant Funds for SOFO’s Educational and Environmental Programs and Initiatives Empowering Families to Be Responsible Stewards of Our Planet.

    On Saturday, August 6th, the South Fork Natural History Museum (SOFO) celebrated its 33rd annual summer gala Conserving Our Planet: The Future Starts Now. With 400 guests, the benefit raised significant funds to support educational and environmental programs and initiatives geared for underserved families. The only state-of-the-art natural history museum on the South Fork of Long Island, focuses on nature and ocean conservation efforts. A very special thank you was given to Anke & Jürgen Friedrich and Susan & David Rockefeller, chairs of SOFO’s educational and environmental programs and initiatives.

    Liev Schreiber, the American actor, director, screenwriter, producer, and narrator was not able to attend as he was assisting with furthering the efforts in Ukraine. Sylvia Earle, the National Geographic Explorer and founder of Mission Blue, was honored for her unwavering commitment to protecting our oceans. 

    Libations and beautiful tastings were offered by the best the Hamptons has to offer from Bamboo, Beacon, Bell & Anchor, East Hampton Grill, Eddie’s Pizza Truck, The Golden Pear, Montauk Shellfish Company, Page at 63 Main, Saaz, Shellworks, and Takumi Taco at the VIP cocktail reception. Guests were able to meander through the grounds of the museum while interacting with Native Wildlife from the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center. Later an honoree presentation, a seated dinner, and dancing with DJ Danja ensued. 

    The benefit gala’s main reception was hosted by Andy Sabin, SOFO President & Co-Founder; and Diana Aceti, SOFO Director of Development. The reception dinner was presented by Elegant Affairs Catering and guests indulged in cocktails and beverages provided by Michael Cinque, Amagansett Wines & Spirits, Channing Daughters Winery, J.A. Baczewski Monopolowa Vodka & Gin, Talkhouse Encore, Uni Tequila, and Hampton Coffee Company. Beautiful flowers were also provided by Mark Masone.

    Other individuals that were honored that night included special friends of SOFO Jim Ash, the first Executive Director of SOFO, Richard Grasso, former chairman, and chief executive of the New York Stock Exchange, SOFO Board Trustee Jeffrey C. Keil of Keil Fiduciary Strategies LLC, Greg Manocherian, the founder of RoeCo Holdings,  a private real estate investment and development company based in New York, and Carl Safina, founder of the Safina Center and author of Beyond Words: What Wolves and Dogs Think and Feel, Becoming Wild: How Animal Cultures Raise Families Create Beauty and Achieve Peace, plus other writings about the human relationship with the natural world.  

     Live auction items included: a dinner for two and concert with Andrea Bocelli where these guests can join the performer on the stage, championship golf for 2 on 5 former British Open golf courses: Royal Troon Golf Club, Turnberry Resort-Ailsa Course, Kingsbarns Golf Links, Prestwick Golf Club, and Carnoustie Golf Links, in addition to a 3-night stay in a classic resort view room at the Turnberry Resort (Ayrshire) and another 3-night stay in a standard Fairmont room at the Fairmont St Andrews Daily full breakfast.
