Summer lecture luncheon with Landscape Architect Thomas L. Woltz, East Hampton Historical Society

On Thursday August 11th, the East Hampton Historical Society hosted a summer lecture luncheon with Landscape Architect Thomas L. Woltz. The Summer lecture which was held at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton on the Atlantic Ocean was on Dynamic Preservation Through Landscape Design. The guest speaker, the sixth in a series over the last several years, discussed how a collaborative effort of restoration and preservation can also adhere with nuances needed for modern amenities and structures. Through several case studies, older maps, illustrations and writings were examined before a rendition of a new and useful design was created focusing on preservation. Excavations have shown hidden narratives embedded in the land where they were unknown before.

Marc Porter, Chairman of Christie’s Americas and sponsor of the event, moderated a Question-and-Answer session following the talk. resented by Wilmington Trust and made possible in part by the generous support of Christie’s, ELLE Décor, and Oscar de la Renta.  Proceeds from the program will benefit the Historical Society’s partnerships with local schools as well as the preservation of its world-class artifact collection.
