The New York Times Travel Show

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the New York Times Travel show. Each year over 30K travel enthusiasts attend the event at the Javits Center where over 40 destination specific seminars are offered, 900 media professionals attend and over 500 booths offer direct contact with Boards of Tourism, cruises, resorts and tour representatives for 170 plus destinations. The event mainly sponsored by Turkish Air and South Africa offers a multifaceted experience as each day seems to cater to a different group, starting with media and travel professionals. The weekend caters to families and non-industry travelers. Products, services, and travel trends are highlighted through a whole travel conference agenda with interesting topics.

This year the highlights included luxury, spa and wellness, travel media, cruising, Caribbean updates on 33 destinations, culinary food and wine tours in Europe and one of a kind experiences in Africa. Ultimately, every region was covered with additional panels focused on the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Latin America and other panels focused on family travel, travel bloggers, adventure travel, young travel professionals and destination weddings. There was also a large L.G.B.T travel presence and several representatives from Cuba. Not only is this yearly travel event highly informative, it’s also entertaining.
