Peru to the World Expo 2021 – 10th Anniversary Celebration

    On Sunday, September 26th Peru to the World Expo celebrated its 10th anniversary celebration at The Baker House 1650 in East Hampton with over 34 well known Peruvian Chefs. Flavio Solorzano and Roger Arakaki, Chef Ambassadors of the Peruvian National brand were in attendance with chefs serving traditionally prepared selections and creole styles with tastings of grilled selections of flank steak, chicken skewers, and selections of fish in ceviche and poke bowls form. Sweets were served later in the day at the 5 hour event. 

    Lite bites and spirits were served to 350 guests on the back lawn of the historic property. Marina Coast Peru, hosted the event through its executive director, Antonella Bertello who received special recognition for her work to celebrate the Peruvian culture.

    The event was created to promote tourism, culture and cuisine. This was the second time the event was held on the grounds of The Baker House 1650. Melvi Dávila, president and CEO of Peru to the World Expo (PTWE),  promotes the dissemination of Peruvian gastronomy, culture, ceremony, via trade associations, buyers, distributors, importers and entrepreneurs in the U.S. with this yearly event. All are welcome. 

    The Mayor of East Hampton, Jerry Larsen and Sandra Meléndez, The East Hampton Village Trustee were in attendance to welcome the guest of honor, Ambassador Marita Landaveri, Consul General of Peru of New York. Juan Chipoco, received the highest award “Chef Bicentennial Leadership Award of Excellence 2021”, owner of Ceviche 105 as a tribute to the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru.

    Major sponsors included Marina Coast Peru, Goya Foods, Inca’s Food, The Baker House, Peruvian Connection, Exclusive Insurance Company, Somos tu Perú, with additional support from PromPerú, OCEX NY and the Consulate General of Peru in New York. 

    Beautiful Alpaca garments were exhibited by the exclusive store, Peruvian Connection. Hats, scarves and fashionable sweaters were available at very reasonable prices. Garments made of Llama Wool and fine silver jewelry with the traditional hauyruro stones by Evelyn Brooks from Peru Gift were also displayed.

    The stage was filled with colorful Andean ceremonial costumes as dancers moved to the music of William Luna.
