Galley Bay Resort and Spa can be found sprawling over 40 acres along Antigua’s northwest shore. One enters the property through a peaceful welcoming area with a charming, restored sugar mill. It reminds one that British colonial rule once flourished here and sugar mills like this provided the livelihood for many of the first families.

Galley Bay is now known for its beautiful scattered bungalows and serene beach. This island and especially this particular sandy stretch are appreciated by one of the world’s trendsetters and best known designers, Giorgio Armani. His inviting estate can be found overlooking the northeast end of the property. Approaching the shared private beach is reminiscent of a James Bond movie, where all at once you feel the energy in the air that can only be explained as provocative, dangerous, and seductive. It feels as though you just missed Ursula Andress, Sean Connery, or maybe Mr. Armani himself.

The rest of Galley Bay has a rustic but refined feel, offering guests nooks and crannies that house several restaurants with varying types of ambiance. Have lunch at Gauguin, in a Tahitian-styled gazebo covered in palm fronds, where you can overlook the sea and listen to the rustling palms, churning waves, and fluttering finches.

Barefoot Grille is perfect when you’re reluctant to leave the sandy shore yet want a bite to eat. The TeePee Bar is perfect for a frozen cocktail. An evening can always be enjoyed at The Sea Grape, before a night out in English Harbor (across the island, but well worth the trip). If you are planning a wedding, Ismay’s can be rented for your guests; it’s at the end of the property near the private beach. Galley Bay offers superior, deluxe beachfront rooms, premium beachfront suites, and Gauguin cottages with a plunge pool. Non-motorized water activities include kayaking, paddle boarding, windsurfing, hobie cat sailing, and snorkeling. Also found at the resort are a fitness center, spa, mini-store, and library. Galley Bay provides a very comfortable experience with a friendly staff.
