The Southampton Cultural Center held its annual gala, An Evening of Wine & Roses at the Southampton Social Club. The event honored Mark Epley, Mayor of Southampton; Dan Gasby, restauranteur and brain health advocate; Tom Clavin, New York Times bestselling author; Bonnie Grice, actress, NPR broadcaster; Phil Keith, author, publisher, educator and Paton Miller, artist and educator. Richard Udice transformed the room with luscious sunset colored roses, while several food stations filled with delectable bites provided by the Southampton Social Club enticed the guests who meandered through the crowd. Silent auction items were found throughout the venue and honorees were invited to be interviewed on CBS’ 94.9 live radio. Tickets and funds raised by auction support the SCC and its causes.
The SCC focuses on brining the arts to the community. This platform provides performance, exhibition and cultural education for those that may not have access to these outlets. Highlights included the avid public speaker Dan Gaspy who delivered an informative, entertaining and real monologue.
Among guests enjoying the evening were gala co-chairs Thomas Farrell and Barbara Kushner with husband Paul; Tom Knight, SCC Chair, Sean Deneney, Sarah Moulton Faux and husband Gordon, Graham Seymore, Stan Glinka, Ellen and Michael Irving and Kenneth Ramos.
Mission: The Southampton Cultural Center (SCC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, combines art, education, dance, music and theatre to engage and nourish the entire community with the arts. Established in 1985, SCC serves all East End residents and visitors by providing a variety of programming including classes, art exhibition and live performances for children and adults at affordable prices. A bequest by the late Willard Levitas and his wife Aura allowed a renovation and expansion that led to the 2006 opening of SCC’s lauded performance space the Levitas Center for the Arts.
