75th anniversary of the Ferrari, The Cavallino Classic Concorso d’Eleganza

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Ferrari. On Friday January 21st the Tour d’Eleganza, a police force escorted convoy took place on Florida’s scenic route A1A. Founded in 1978 by John Barnes, the tour began at The Royals Blues R&C, the only Relais & Chateaux hotel in Deerfield Beach where lunch was served. Later, the 3-hour tour continued north to the five-star Four Seasons Palm Beach Resort where refreshments were provided poolside. Then the Ferrari motorcade continued on to the Sailfish Club culminating at the awe-inspiring Breakers Hotel where Ferrari tour members parked on the long and iconic Brick Promenade. The vast and pristine grounds of the elegant but commanding Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach beckons guests for miles with its vast size, architecture and presence. It’s the perfect location for such an event as Ferrari collectors and enthusiasts demand distinction. Ladies and gentlemen perused modern and classics on the elegant grounds in grace and style. It was the perfect Palm Beach day. Later members of the Tour d’Eleganza enjoyed lite bites on the ocean lawn beneath the stars. A trifecta is warm ocean breezes, manicured lawns and The Ferrari.

The next morning, the Cavallino Classic Concorso d’Eleganza celebrated its opening ceremony on the flawless lawn at The Breakers with 75 motor cars from each of the 75 years celebrating the Ferrari. The property anchors the island of Palm Beach with its history, architecture and vastness. It can be seen for miles. It’s the perfect pairing for Ferrari collectors and enthusiasts who demand distinction and style. H.E. Cristiano Musillo, the Consul General of Italy took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Consul, along with the special guest Duccio Lopresto, Director of Business Development of RM Sotheby’s, took pleasure in this unique celebration of Italian excellency in the United States. For this special occasion Luigi Orlandini, Chairman and CEO of Canossa and Cavallino, was joined by H.E. Cristiano Musillo, the Consul General of Italy in Miami, for the cutting of the ribbon.

“We are here to celebrate the extraordinary bond that exists between Italy and the United States, and this is the perfect venue. Italy is known all over the world for its 4 Fs: Food, Fashion, Furniture and Ferrari. And of course, Ferrari stands for beauty, perfection, and innovation, the quintessential of Made in Italy. It’s a pleasure to share with you these values and principles and to enjoy this fantastic atmosphere with you”.

250 GTO car models also commemorated the 60th anniversary of this legendary model. The Concorso Judges determined the best of the show. This year’s winning car was designed this year for the special occasion by the world-renowned design firm Pininfarina. The Overall Outstanding Ferrari Gran Turismo was attributed to the wonderful 1966 365 P Speciale s/n 8971 driven by Roberto & Jami Quirroz. The car also won the People’s Choice Award, a new award with the winner chosen by the Concorso spectators. The Best of Show for the category Overall Outstanding Ferrari Competition went to Aaron Hsu’s unique 1964 250 GTO s/n 5573 GT.
