Pop Up Nation at the Old Stove Pub

A favorite Out East, the Old Stove Pub launched a multi-course dinner series with Pop Up Nation on Tuesday nights with a different celebrity chef each week until Labor Day. Each Tuesday will be a singular experience, there is nothing Out East like it as Pop Up Nation (P.U.N) is the first of its kind experience. Each week different drink specials are provided by partners in this venture.

Pop Up Nation offers subscription options for those who want to be in the know. Each dinner event is curated by a celebrity chef so instead of traveling far and wide to enjoy chef creations, they come to you weekly. It’s a very special concept. This year they have had Jonathan Waxman, Joe Campanero, Leah Cohen, Franklin Becker, Alex Guarnaschelli and coming soon will be Michael Simon, Amanda Freitag, Josh Capon, Marcus Samuelson and more. Check in on their website. Subscriptions (popupnations.com)

Featured cocktails include Roku Gin, Canard Vinyard, Maker’s Mark, Tres Generaciones, Pellegrino and Acqua Panna

Chef Leah Cohen, owner of Pig & Khao, at 68 Clinton Street, New York is a native New Yorker with a Jewish and Filipino background first enrolled in a six-week cooking class at the age of 16. Later she secured an externship with Daivd Burke at Park Ave Café, then attended Italy’s Slow Food Program ending up at La Madia a Michelin-starred Ristorante in Sicily. She gained more experience with Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park, Centro Vinoteca, Bo Innovations in Hong Kong, Boland, and David Thompson’s Nahm in Bangkok. She traveled extensively in Thailand and the Philippines savoring the flavors and learning along the way. All of these flavors, techniques and experience culminated with the opening of Pig & Khao in 2013. A rising star indeed. Piggy back Bar was opened in 2017 in Jersey City.

At 3516 Montauk Hwy. Sagaponack, one must walk past a red horse with no name towards the entrance of a rustic styled farmhouse set back off the highway. This is not a song but it could be as this venue should have walls that talk. Many celebrities have been sighted here since the time that it opened 51 years ago including Billy Joel, Barbara Walters, Hugh Carey, Truman Capote, George Plimpton, Peter Maas, Mario Puzo, Joseph Heller, Sidney Lumet, Elia Kazan, Gloria Vanderbilt, Calvin Klein, John Legend, Shakira, Rocko DiSpirito, Jon Bon Jovi, Ronald Lauder, Kelly Klein, food aficionados Alan Stillman and Peter Morton, pianist Peter Duchin and Jimmy Fallon.
