The 6th annual Love Bites honored the culinary community of the Hamptons on Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 6:30 to 9:30 at The Muses in Southampton. Love Bites supports Katy’s Kids at the CMEE Center for grieving children and adolescents in honor of Katy Stewart. Kathryn Collins Stewart or “Katy” was born in Southampton Hospital then attended Sag Harbor elementary and middle school as a Sag Harbor resident. In 2009 she was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare form of liver cancer. Katy had a major impact on the East End community where friends were most important to her. After her diagnosis it wasn’t just the immediate family that was impacted but the whole community, who in turn were overwhelmingly supportive. On December 30, 2011 Katy died at the age of 12 with her family by her side.
Jim and Brigid Stewart, founders of Love Bites & Katy’s Courage have dedicated their lives to Katy’s memory supporting the community through pediatric cancer research and scholarships. Katy’s Kids @CMEE creates programing supporting grieving families at The Center for Grieving Children and Adolescents. Over 100,000 has been raised for the fund and donated to these causes. Katy lives on through these outlets of charity for children just like her and families just like her’s.
