Supporters gathered on the lawn of the stately Rogers Mansion, a Southampton Historical Society property, where hors d’oeuvres provided by Schmidt Brothers and tastings of Rosé by the glass by Bottle Hampton via Fiol Prosecco, Herbert & Rist, Martha Clara Vineyards and Raphael Vineyards were served. The jazz band Certain Moves Trio played beneath the neoclassical pavilion across the lawn. Guests cuddled Chiwawa puppies and visited other animals in the mobile adoption center parked near the pavilion.

The outside of the Roger’s Mansion, owned by the historical society exudes an 1800’s romantic garden party feel. The lower ticketed event was created by Kate McEntee as a prelude of promotion for the yearly Unconditional Love Gala which is held on July 8th by the Southampton Animal Foundation’s Board of Directors. The event will take place at the home of Chuck and Ellen Scarborough on Gin Lane, which will honor Shafiroff and Sony Schotland.

The Southampton Animal Shelter was operated as a municipal shelter by the Town of Southampton until January 2010. Due to budget cuts at the time, the Town eliminated the shelter. A concerned group of locals citizens banded together along with Susan Allen, daughter of Herbert Allen, co-founder of investment bank Allen & Co., who acted as chairwoman to save the shelter and created the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. The mission is to provide welfare to the growing number of homeless animals in the Hamptons, sometimes beyond and place them in permanent caring furever homes.
